Eric McBurney

Associate Attorney

Eric McBurney is on the trial team at Amir Defense Group, coming with extensive jury trial experience, having taken over eighty trials to verdict, including multiple death penalty cases in multiple states.

Mr. McBurney’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, from the University of Maryland, a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Utah, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2011, where he was on the Law Journal of Gender, Race and Justice.  Mr. McBurney also worked for multiple civil rights organizations, including the ACLU, which motivated him towards public defense work following graduation.

In his free time, Mr. McBurney is an avid auto enthusiast who religiously subscribes to Colin Chapman’s ideal that a driver’s car should be light and analogue.  He can be found on weekends on twisty backroads or on the racetrack driving spiritedly with all of the digital assistance turned off so as to maximize the bond between man and machine.

He brings that knowledge of high-performance automobiles to his legal practice, allowing him to better analyze the facts of the cases he defends from both the perspective of an experienced trial attorney and an avid car enthusiast.
